I am considering seeking legal advice. At the end of the day, I’m in Switzerland, and “robin” is in Switzerland as well as far as I know. I would do all the above suggestions, but the whole idea of the article is that I am not supposed to do any of that, as I would assume Upwork would be reliable so that I wouldn’t need to do that.

Yet, the more comments I read, the more the advice towards going legal on this. I’m giving this a month or so. The reach has been phenomenal, some even contacted me with their friends who work in Upwork’s company.

So, I’m hoping they might contact me and resolve this asap. But still, at the end of the day, it’s a lesson for everyone to not take online freelancing platforms for granted, and to learn more that things could escalate to the legal level outside of Upwork.
